Much\u00a0of\u00a0his research has focused on\u00a0<em>Marital Communication<\/em>, resulting in a book by the same name. His 1998 study,\u00a0<em>The Communication of Forgiveness<\/em>, is the seminal piece of research on the communication of forgiveness, and launched two decades of work focusing on various forgiveness processes, culminating with the two-time award-winning book\u00a0<em>Communicating Forgiveness<\/em>. His most recent book,\u00a0<em>Just Relationships: Living Out Social Justice as Mentor, Family, Friend, and Lover\u00a0<\/em>explores ideas as to how we may live justly with one another in our personal relationships, treating each other with respect and love, and advocating for the re-humanization of our personal encounters. Professor Kelley\u2019s research has appeared in numerous professional journals, and he is recipient of the\u00a0<em>Centennial Professor Award<\/em> at ASU.\u00a0 Doug teaches relationship-based courses and conducts workshops in the community on forgiveness and reconciliation, marital and family communication, conflict processes, relational communication (including intimacy and love), and inner-city families.
